TITLE

AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING SUPPLEMENTAL APPROPRIATIONS - Attorney General Training Fund for Training Expenses

BODY

 

WHEREAS, annually, the Ohio Attorney General’s Office prescribes certain hours of mandatory Continuing Professional Training (CPT) hours for all sworn peace officers; and

 

WHEREAS, in 2023, the Attorney General’s Office mandated 24 CPT hours with reimbursement of funds for course fees, equipment, and related training expenses to employing agencies funded in the state’s biennial budget; and

 

WHEREAS, the Gahanna Division of Police, having been found compliant with all state-mandated training requirements, recently submitted for reimbursement for 24 hours of each of its sworn employees based on hourly rates of pay and received funding in the amount of $87,059; and

 

WHEREAS, during the 2024 budget process, the Division anticipated receiving $23,000 in training reimbursement, as a reduction in the reimbursement had been assumed; and

 

WHEREAS, the Department of Public Safety requests supplemental appropriations in the amount of $64,059 from the unappropriated, unencumbered balance of the AG Training Fund (2370) for training expenses.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, COUNTY OF FRANKLIN, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1. That funding in the amount of sixty-four thousand fifty-nine dollars ($64,059) is hereby supplementally appropriated from the unappropriated, unencumbered balance of the AG Training Fund (2370) as follows:

 

237.10.000.5225 - AG Training Professional Development: $64,059

 

Section 2. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect after passage by Council and on date of signature of approval by the Mayor.
