TITLE
AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING SUPPLEMENTAL APPROPRIATIONS - State Capital Grant Fund and Capital Improvement Fund for Trailhead Construction at Academy Park
BODY
WHEREAS, the Gahanna Parks & Recreation Comprehensive Master Plan identifies adventure sports, including mountain biking, as a popular activity for youth; and
WHEREAS, the creation of a Mountain Bike Trail at Academy Park is an active capital project with strong support and participation by resident groups; and
WHEREAS, the Capital Improvement Plan identifies a trailhead slated for design and construction in 2025; and
WHEREAS, the trailhead will serve as a resource to provide trail users a dedicated location to prepare for their ride, rest, and rehydrate; and
WHEREAS, with the support of the Gahanna Parks & Recreation Foundation, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources through its NatureWorks program awarded the City a grant of $95,746 to construct the trailhead at Academy Park; and
WHEREAS, using the funds from the NatureWorks grant of $95,746 and a Transfer Out of $79,254 from the Capital Improvement Fund (3250), the City intends to appropriate $175,000 in the State NatureWorks Grant Capital Improvements account of the State Capital Grant Fund (3220) for completion of the project.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, COUNTY OF FRANKLIN, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That funding in the amount of seventy-nine thousand two hundred fifty-four dollars ($79,254) is hereby supplementally appropriated from the unappropriated, unencumbered balance of the Capital Improvement Fund (3250) as follows:
325.06.550.5900 - Capital Improvement Fund Transfer Out: $79,254
Section 2. That funding in the amount of one hundred seventy-five thousand dollars ($175,000) is hereby supplementally appropriated from the unappropriated, unencumbered balance of the State Capital Grant Fund (3220) as follows:
