TITLE
A RESOLUTION HONORING AND CELEBRATING THE ACHIEVEMENTS OF THE GAHANNA LINCOLN FOOTBALL TEAM DURING THE 2022 SEASON
BODY
WHEREAS, the Gahanna City Council joins with students, staff and residents of the Gahanna Jefferson School District in honoring the 2022 Varsity Football players and coaches for their excellent season; and
WHEREAS, the 2022 Gahanna Lincoln Lions played only the first two games in their home stadium before it was demolished to make way for a new stadium; and
WHEREAS, the 2022 team played the remaining 13 games in foreign stadiums without the comfort and familiarity of a home field advantage; and
WHEREAS, the 2022 Lincoln Lions only regular season loss was the third game against Centerville; and
WHEREAS, the 2022 Lincoln Lions bested Lancaster, Hilliard Bradley, Pickerington Central and New Albany in post season play, placing them in the State Division 1 semifinal game; and
WHEREAS, the 2022 Lincoln Lions valiantly battled powerhouse Lakewood St. Edward in a repeat competition of these two teams last meeting in a state semifinal in 1976; and
WHEREAS, though they lost in the semifinal game, these fine young men and their coaches and parents are to be commended for a wonderful, exciting, and successful season.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, COUNTY OF FRANKLIN, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That this Council hereby honors the 2022 Gahanna Lincoln Lions players and coaches for perseverance, preparation, and skill during the 2022 football season.
Section 2. That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect at the earliest period allowed by law.
