TITLE

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO PREPARE AND SUBMIT AN APPLICATION FOR THE 2022 OHIO PUBLIC WORKS COMMISSION ROUND 37 GRANT/LOAN FUNDING OPPORTUNITY; AND AUTHORIZING THE FINANCE DIRECTOR TO ESTABLISH A SPECIAL FUND FOR THE PROCEEDS, IF AWARDED

BODY

 

WHEREAS, the Administration has proposed securing additional outside funding for capital improvements for the City through the Ohio Public Works Commission (OPWC) grant and loan funding opportunities known as OPWC LTIP and SCIP; and

 

WHEREAS, eligible projects include improvements to roads, bridges, culverts, water supply systems, wastewater systems, stormwater collection systems, and solid waste disposal facilities; and

 

WHEREAS, the Department of Engineering is preparing an application for the Taylor Station, Claycraft, and Research Road Roundabout Project to secure partial funding for construction; and

 

WHEREAS, this Project will help increase capacity of these sections of roadway, alleviate congestion, improve pedestrian connectivity, and encourage economic development in this area; and

 

WHEREAS, if awarded the additional funding, the City will need to establish a special fund to track revenues and appropriations.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, COUNTY OF FRANKLIN, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to submit a formal application for the 2022 Round 37 OPWC funding opportunities for LTIP and SCIP.

 

Section 2. That the Finance Director is hereby authorized to establish a special fund for the grant/loan proceeds, if awarded.

 

Section 3. That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect at the earliest period allowed by law.
