TITLE

AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC SERVICE ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITH THE RIGHTER COMPANY FOR THE CHERRY BOTTOM ROAD STABILIZATION PROJECT, AND WAIVING SECOND READING

BODY

 

WHEREAS, the Cherry Bottom Road Stabilization Project consists of installing sheet pile retaining walls to secure unstable slopes that have damaged the roadway at two locations along Cherry Bottom Road; and

 

WHEREAS, on July 29, 2022, three total bids were opened and reviewed with the lowest responsive and responsible bidder being The Righter Company at a total bid of $349,195; and

 

WHEREAS, the Administration also requests a 10 percent contingency to cover any unforeseen construction costs; and

 

WHEREAS, to meet the schedule required by the grant that was received for this project, a waiver of second reading is requested.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, COUNTY OF FRANKLIN, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1. That the Mayor and Director of Public Service are hereby authorized to enter into contract with THE RIGHTER CO, INC of 2424 HARRISON ROAD, COLUMBUS, OH 43204 for the Cherry Bottom Road Stabilization project in accordance with contract terms set forth in Exhibit A, attached hereto and made a part herein.

 

Section 2. That funding in the amount of three hundred eighty-four thousand one hundred fifteen dollars ($384,115) was set aside in 2022 appropriations to cover the bid and contingency amounts.

 

Section 3. That the second reading is hereby waived.

 

Section 4. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and on date of signature of approval by the Mayor.
