AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORD-0089-2021 AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING THE SALARIES FOR PERSONNEL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA FOR THE PERIOD JANUARY 1, 2022, THROUGH DECEMBER 31, 2022, WAIVING SECOND READING AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY

WHEREAS, the administration is recommending a number of changes to the 2022 Salary Ordinance passed as ORD-0089-2021; and
WHEREAS, the requested amendments result from the establishment of the Department of Engineering, an independent review of roles in the Department of Finance and in Marketing & Communications, and desire to align the pay of other vacant positions to the pay of comparable positions in neighboring communities; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor recommends passage of the Ordinance as an emergency measure immediately necessary for the preservation of public peace, safety, health, and welfare of the City in order better recruit qualified candidates and secure adequate staffing for the City’s programs and services.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, COUNTY OF FRANKLIN, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That this Council hereby adopts the 2022 Salary Ordinance as amended and enacted as described in EXHIBIT A, attached hereto and made a part herein.
Section 2. That for the reasons set forth in the preamble, the second reading is hereby waived and this Ordinance is declared an emergency, which shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and on date of signature of approval by the Mayor.
