AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO A BARGAINING UNIT AGREEMENT FOR THE FRATERNAL ORDER OF POLICE, OHIO LABOR COUNCIL, INC FOR THE PERIOD OF JANUARY 1, 2022, THROUGH DECEMBER 31, 2024, WAIVING SECOND READING AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY

WHEREAS, the City of Gahanna and the Fraternal Order of Police - Ohio Labor Council (FOP-OLC) have reached a tentative agreement on the 2022-20224 contract for Communications Technicians I and II; and

 

WHEREAS, the bargaining unit has voted in favor of adopting the successor agreement; and

 

WHEREAS, the Department of Administrative Services and Division of Police recommend that the Ordinance be adopted as an emergency measure necessary for the preservation of peace, safety, and welfare of the City of Gahanna and that the contract be in effect immediately upon approval of the Mayor to meet State Employee Relations Board filing deadlines.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, COUNTY OF FRANKLIN, STATE OF OHIO:

 

SECTION 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into a Bargaining Unit Agreement with the Fraternal Order of Police - Ohio Labor Council, Inc for the period beginning and terms retroactive to January 1, 2022, through December 31, 2024, as attached hereto as EXHIBIT A, and made a part herein.

 

SECTION 2. That for the reasons set forth in the preamble above, this Ordinance is declared an emergency measure and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and on the date of signature of approval by the Mayor.
