A RESOLUTION AFFIRMING THE CITY OF GAHANNA'S COMMITMENT TO ENVIRONMENTAL ACTION AND RECOGNIZING APRIL 22, 2022, AS EARTH DAY

WHEREAS, the number one goal of the MORPC Regional Sustainability Agenda includes improving air quality and reducing the impacts of climate change to protect public health and the environment; and
WHEREAS, the City of Gahanna is committed to improving our local environment and increasing sustainability within the City by offering residents diversified modes of transportation, well-planned, varied housing stock, accessible and inclusive parks, clean waterways, and vibrant networks of regional trails; and
WHEREAS, policies such as these create connectivity between neighborhoods, increase the values of our homes, and improve public health outcomes for all; and
WHEREAS, the City's acquisition and preservation of 750 acres of park land, investment in 4.6 miles of multi-use trails, certification of Creekside Park as a Level 1 Arboretum, installation of electronic vehicle charging stations, and regular communitywide litter pick-ups and beautification efforts serve as testament to the City of Gahanna's efforts to protect the environment; and
WHEREAS, the City of Gahanna affirms its commitment to Invest In Our Planet, the 2022 Earth Day theme, and work with regional partners to build a prosperous and equitable future; and
WHEREAS, the City of Gahanna celebrates these milestones in protecting the environment and creating a better future for all inhabitants annually with Earth Day.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, COUNTY OF FRANKLIN, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That Gahanna City Council hereby affirms its commitment to diversified and well-planned environmental policies that improve public health and enhance the quality of life for all.
Section 2. That this Council does hereby recognize April 22, 2022, as Earth Day in the City of Gahanna.
