AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITH ASTRO POOL COMPANY FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF A SPLASH PAD AT GAHANNA SWIMMING POOL; WAIVE SECOND READING; ADOPT AS EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, in the 2021 Capital Needs Assessment, this City Council approved funding for the installation of a splash pad for the Gahanna Swimming Pool; and
WHEREAS, the addition of a splash pad will provide a much-needed improvement to the amenities available to the community; and
WHEREAS, the features of the splash pad will allow for creative movement and imaginative play appropriate for a wide range of children of all abilities; and
WHEREAS, the Vortex equipment costs have already been approved by this City Council and purchased through the Sourcewell Cooperative Purchasing Agreement; and
WHEREAS, all competitive bidding requirements have been met; and
WHEREAS, it is imperative to move forward with this legislation for the preservation of the public peace, property, health, safety, and welfare.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, COUNTY OF FRANKLIN, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into agreement with Astro Pool Company 2710 Crider Road, Mansfield, Ohio 44903 as described in EXHIBIT A, attached hereto and a made a part herein.
Section 2. That two hundred ninety-one thousand and fifty-three dollars ($291,053.00) has been set aside in Account No. 325.06.550.5505- Capital Projects, as part of 2021 appropriations to cover the herein costs.
Section 3. That sixteen thousand dollars ($16,000.00) is hereby supplementally appropriated and transferred to Account No. 325.06.550.5505- Capital Projects, to cover the additional amount associated with inflation of construction and labor costs.
Section 4. That ORD-098-2020, passed December 21, 2020, is hereby amended to reflect this appropriation.
Section 5. The second reading is hereby waived.
