AN ORDINANCE TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITH LOCAL WASTE SERVICES, FOR RESIDENTIAL WASTE COLLECTION IN THE CITY OF GAHANNA.

WHEREAS, the City of Gahanna participates in a solid waste consortium that consists of ten other communities in the Central Ohio area and the consortium obtained bids for a new contract; and
WHEREAS, bids were opened on June 10, 2021, and after evaluation, the Administration recommends awarding the Local Waste alternate bid due to the company being highly recommended by other cities, and due to cost savings; and
WHEREAS, there will be several improvements and changes to service, which will help ensure more reliable collection; and
WHEREAS, the term of the Contract will be for three (3) years with the option plus two optional years at mutual consent.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Director of Public Service is hereby authorized to award and the Mayor is authorized to enter into Contract with Local Waste Services, 1300 S. Columbus Airport Rd., Columbus, OH 43207, for collection of residential waste in the City of Gahanna, in accordance with bid and City specifications; said contract attached as EXHIBIT A and made a part herein.
Section 2. That funding will be set aside in the 2020 Appropriations, as well as subsequent years, to cover any herein costs.
Section 3. That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect immediately after passage by this Council and 30 days after date of signature approval by the Mayor.
