ORDINANCE TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITH STRUCTUREPOINT FOR PARKING LOT AND MULTI-USE TRAIL IMPROVEMENT DESIGN AND ENGINEERING; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation has identified the need for construction and rehabilitation of existing parking areas and a multi-use trail in various park properties; and
WHEREAS, the parking lot at Woodside Green needs to be replaced and redesigned in order to improve and maximize the space; and
WHEREAS, the Price Road House, which is being renovated to be used as a programmable and rentable space, requires a paved lot in order to accommodate the new use of the property; and
WHEREAS, Trapp Park includes a bike route that needs to be replaced, as the current alignment does not meet ADA requirements and needs to be widened for use as a multi-use trail; and
WHEREAS, it is imperative to proceed with this Ordinance for the preservation of the public peace, property, health, safety, and welfare.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, COUNTY OF FRANKLIN, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into contract with Structurepoint 2550 Corporate Exchange Drive, Suite 300, Columbus, Ohio 43231, to perform engineering & design services for parking lot and multi-use trail improvements; said contract attached as EXHIBIT A, and made a part herein.
Section 2. That funding in the amount of ninety-thousand three hundred and eighty dollars ($90,380.00) is available in Account No. 32506650.5500, from 2021 appropriations to cover the herein costs.
Section 3. That for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
