RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA TO RECOGNIZE AIR QUALITY AWARENESS WEEK: MAY 3-MAY 7, 2021.

WHEREAS,  poor air quality affects everyone, but some individuals are particularly sensitive to air pollutants, including children and adults who are active outdoors, the elderly, and those with chronic respiratory diseases such as asthma; and

WHEREAS, Air Quality Awareness Week encourages people to be mindful of their contributions to air pollution and to make responsible decisions that contribute toward healthier air; and

WHEREAS, awareness of vehicle travel and conservation of resources has a positive impact on our local air quality conditions; and

WHEREAS, NOAA National Weather Service, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), U.S. Forest Service, and U.S. Department of State - EPA have collaborated to celebrate Healthy Air - Important for Everyone! this Air Quality Awareness Week; and

 

WHEREAS, the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission encourages central Ohio communities to participate in and recognize Air Quality Awareness Week; and

WHEREAS, MORPC and the Gahanna City Council seek to encourage awareness of the following areas each day of the Week of May 3:

Monday - Wildfires & Smoke

Tuesday - Asthma & Your Health

Wednesday - Citizen Science & Sensors

Thursday - Environmental Justice Communities & Air Quality

Friday - Air Quality Around the World.


NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA:

Section 1. That this Council does hereby recognize National Air Quality Awareness Week from Monday, May 3, 2021 through Friday, May 7, 2021 in the City of Gahanna.

Section 2. That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect at the earliest period allowed by law.
