ORDINANCE TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO A SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICER (SRO) CONTRACT WITH GAHANNA JEFFERSON PUBLIC SCHOOLS (GJPS) FOR THE 2021-2022 SCHOOL YEAR.

WHEREAS, the school district has agreed to pay 50% of the costs associated with one officer providing SRO services to Gahanna-Lincoln High School and 75% of the cost for a second GLHS-based SRO; and
WHEREAS, the amount invoiced for the 2021-2022 school year shall not exceed $203,693.00; and
WHEREAS, the City shall cover all costs associated with overtime hours when those hours are ordered by the City; and
WHEREAS, the District shall cover all costs associated with overtime hours when those hours are ordered by the District; and
WHEREAS, the City shall bear in full, all costs associated with services rendered to the District’s middle schools.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, COUNTY OF FRANKLIN, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into the School Resource Officer contract with Gahanna-Jefferson Public Schools, 140 S. Hamilton Road, Gahanna, Ohio, 43230, for the 2021-2022 school year; said contract attached hereto as EXHIBIT A and made a part herein.
Section 2. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect after passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
