ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITH MOTOROLA SOLUTIONS INC., FOR PURCHASE RADIO CONSOLE EQUIPMENT AND CONNECTIVITY INFRASTRUCTURE FOR THE CO-LOCATION OF EMERGENCY COMMUNICIATIONS CENTERS WITH MIFFLIN TOWNSHIP; WAIVING SECOND READING; AND DECLARING IT AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, the additional radio console equipment and connectivity infrastructure that is compatible with the State of Ohio’s Multi-Agency Radio Communications System (MARCS), of which the Division is a subscriber is required; and
WHEREAS, the request will expand the number if dispatching positions from three to five and includes necessary technology upgrades to the existing equipment; and
WHEREAS, it is imperative to move forward with this purchase for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into contract with MOTOROLA SOLUTIONS INC., 13104 Collections Center Drive, Chicago, IL, 60693, for purchase of additional radio console equipment and connectivity infrastructure; quote attached as EXHIBIT A, and made a part herein; said purchase to be made from State Term Schedule 573077-0.
Section 2. That pursuant to Gahanna City Code Section 135.05(e)(4) competitive bidding is hereby suspended.
Section 3. The second reading is hereby waived.
Section 4. That, for the reason set forth in the preamble herein above, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
