ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO PROPERTY/LIABILITY INSURANCE RENEWAL COMMITMENT FOR THREE YEARS WITH THE OHIO MUNICIPAL JOINT SELF-INSURANCE POOL; WAIVING SECOND READING, AND DECLARING IT AN EMERGENCY.

 

BODY

 

WHEREAS, the Ohio Municipal Joint Self-Insurance Pool (OMJSP) currently provides property and liability insurance coverage to the City and Gahanna serves on the board of trustees; and

 

WHEREAS, OMJSP has extended rate reductions over the years, which have kept them extremely competitive and their service is impeccable; and

 

WHEREAS, the term of the renewal is for three (3) years, commencing April 1, 2020 and ending April 1, 2023.

 

WHEREAS, it is imperative to move forward with this legislation as soon as possible for the preservation of the public peace, property, health, safety and welfare.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, COUNTY OF FRANKLIN, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into a three-year Commitment with the Ohio Municipal Joint Self Insurance Pool, 3900 Kinross Lakes Parkway, Richfield, Ohio 44286, to renew property/liability insurance; said Commitment attached hereto as EXHIBIT A, and made a part herein.

 

Section 2. That funds have been set aside in 2020 appropriations.

 

Section 3. That the second reading is hereby waived.

 

Section 4. That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble hereinabove, this Ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
