ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC SERVICE AND ENGINEERING TO ENTER INTO A RENEWAL AMENDMENT WITH COLUMBUS FIBERNET (CFN), FOR MAINTENANCE AND MANAGEMENT SERVICES OF THE GAHANNA FIBER OPTIC NETWORK; AND DECLARING IT AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, Columbus Fibernet (CFN), a subsidiary of Fishel that currently provides maintenance and management of the City’s fiber optic network, has mutually agreed to renew the service agreement; and,

 

WHEREAS, the term of the renewal is for three (3) years commencing March 20, 2020 and ending March 19, 2023 with the provision for two (2) separate extensions of one (1) year each; and,

 

WHEREAS, it is imperative to move forward with this ordinance for the preservation of the public peace, property, health, safety and welfare,

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1.  That the Mayor and Director of Public Service and Engineering is hereby authorized to enter into a renewal amendment with COLUMBUS FIBERNET, 1366 Dublin Road, Columbus, OH  43215, for maintenance/restoration and management services to the Gahanna fiber optic network; said proposal attached as EXHIBIT A and made a part herein.

 

Section 2.  That funding in the amount of THIRTY THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($30,500) is available in Account No. 101.11.400.5205 has been appropriated in 2020 appropriations.

 

Section 3.  That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
