TO REESTABLISH AND DETERMINE THE POSITION OF THE CITY ATTORNEY OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA FOR THE TERM BEGINNING JANUARY 2, 2020; TO PROVIDE COMMENSURATE COMPENSATION THEREFOR; TO AMEND CHAPTER 143, DEPARTMENT OF LAW.

WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to reestablish the elected position of City Attorney of the City of Gahanna, term beginning January 2, 2020; and
WHEREAS, it is appropriate and necessary that this position be firmly established and compensation set therefor in a timely manner in order to file such information with the Board of Elections of Franklin County as required by law;
NOW, THEREFOR, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That Chapter 143, Department of Law, is hereby amended as stated and attached hereto as Exhibit A.
Section 2. That this Council hereby determines that effective JANUARY 2, 2020, the position of City Attorney of the City of Gahanna shall be reestablished and compensation is hereby authorized and directed in the amounts and on the effective dates declared and set forth in Section 143.04, Compensation, of Chapter 143, Department of Law, attached hereto as EXHIBIT A.
Section 3. That existing sections of Chapter 143, Department of Law, or any ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
Section 4. The second reading is hereby waived.
Section 5. That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect after passage by this Council and 30 days after date of signature approval by the Mayor.
