TITLE

TO ESTABLISH THE FOLLOWING THREE SPECIAL REVENUE FUNDS: PUBLIC SAFETY FUND, PUBLIC SERVICE FUND, AND PARKS & RECREATION FUND; TO DEPOSIT MONEYS GENERATED FROM THE TWENTY-FIVE PERCENT OF THE ONE PERCENT INCOME TAX INCREASE AUTHORIZED BY THE VOTERS ON MAY 7, 2019.

WHEREAS, twenty-five percent of the revenue generated from the one percent increase is designated for operational costs for Public Safety, Public Service, and Parks & Recreation; and

 

WHEREAS, this ordinance will establish three special revenue funds to allow deposit of the revenue generated from the twenty-five percent of the one percent income tax increase, and to identify allowable uses as outlined in the issue 12 ballot language.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1.  That there is hereby created three special revenue funds for revenue generated from the twenty-five percent of the one percent income tax increase; known as the Public Safety Fund, Public Service Fund, and Parks & Recreation Fund.

 

Section 2. The funds shall only be used for the purposes as follows:

a.                     Public Safety Fund for public safety operational costs including, without limitation, police protection and 911 emergency services.

b.                     Public Service Fund for public service operational costs including, without limitation, snow removal and streetlight and traffic signal maintenance.

c.                     Parks and Recreation Fund for parks and recreation operational costs including, without limitation, parks and recreation programming.

 

Section 3.  That ORD-0010-2019, passed January 29, 2019, is hereby amended to reflect these new funds.

 

Section 4.  That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect after passage by this Council and 30 days after signature of approval by the Mayor.
