TITLE

TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO A BARGAINING UNIT AGREEMENT WITH THE FRATERNAL ORDER OF POLICE (FOP), CAPITAL CITY LODGE #9, FOR THE PERIOD OF JANUARY 1, 2019 THROUGH DECEMBER 31, 2021; FOR POLICE OFFICERS; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, the Director of Human Resources is recommending authorization for the Mayor to sign the bargaining unit agreement with the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP), Capital City, Lodge No. 9, for the period January 1, 2019, through December 31, 2021 for the police officers; and

 

WHEREAS, it is imperative to move forward with this legislation so the agreement may be in place and retro-payments can be made in the 2019 year, all for the preservation of the public peace, property, health, safety and welfare.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, COUNTY OF FRANKLIN, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1.  That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into a Bargaining Unit Agreement with the FRATERNAL ORDER OF POLICE (FOP), Capital City Lodge No. 9; for the period of January 1, 2019, through December 31, 2021, for the police officers; said Agreement attached hereto as EXHIBIT A, and made a part herein.

 

Section 2.  The second reading is hereby waived.

 

Section 3. That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above, this Ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
