A RESOLUTION TO RECOGNIZE NATIONAL DISTRACTED DRIVING AWARENESS MONTH, FOR THE MONTH OF APRIL, 2019.
TITLE
WHEREAS, in March 2010, the U.S. House of Representatives adopted Resolution 1186, expressing support for the designation of April as National Distracted Driving Awareness Month to encourage all people in the United States to consider the lives of others on the road and avoid distracted driving; and
WHEREAS, the campaign aims to encourage legislators and law enforcement to explore methods to eliminate the dangers of distracted driving; and
WHEREAS, numerous states and local governments have since participated every year to draw awareness to distracted driving; and
WHEREAS, distracted driving continues to increase and is responsible for accidents, injuries, and death; and
WHEREAS, the City of Gahanna has over 325 lane miles of residential streets, roadways, and parts of Interstate 270 within its jurisdiction, and we want to ensure the safety of everyone traveling on those roadways.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, COUNTY OF FRANKLIN, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That this Council hereby recognizes National Distracted Driving Awareness Month during the month of April, 2019.
Section 2. That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect immediately after passage by this Council.
