TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO SIGN A MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING (MOU) WITH THE NATIONAL RECREATION AND PARK ASSOCIATION (NRPA) FOR THE ACCEPTANCE OF A GRANT AND TO SUPPPLEMENTALLY APPROPRIATE SAID FUNDS TO THE CAPITAL PROJECTS/IMPROVEMENT FUND.

WHEREAS, the Department of Parks & Recreation has received a grant from National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) for the amount of eighty-six thousand, nine hundred fifty-six dollars $86,956; and

 

WHEREAS, the grant funds are to improve the play space at McCutcheon Road Park by providing walking paths that will connect amenities throughout the park; and

 

WHEREAS, improvements to the park will ensure that every child has the opportunity to enjoy a day at the park with their family, by providing a space that is accessible to both children and adults, and will encourage an active lifestyle; and

 

WHEREAS, these funds are currently unappropriated and unencumbered; and

 

WHEREAS, to move the funds to the appropriate accounts requires a supplemental appropriation.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, COUNTY OF FRANKLIN, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the acceptance of a grant from National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA), 22377 Belmont Ridge Road, Ashburn, Virginia, 20148.

 

Section 2. That funding in the amount of EIGHTY-SIX THOUSAND, NINE HUNDRED FIFTY-SIX DOLLARS ($86,956) is hereby supplementally appropriated from the unencumbered, unappropriated balance of the Capital Improvement Fund 325 to the Capital Projects/Improvement Account No. 325.06.000.5505.

 

Section 3. That ORD-0010-2019, passed January 29, 2019, is hereby amended to reflect this supplemental appropriation.

 

Section 4. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect after passage by Council and 30 days after date of signature approval by the Mayor.
