TO AMEND CHAPTER 505, ANIMALS AND FOWL, SECTION 505.14 - DANGEROUS AND VICIOUS ANIMALS, OF THE CODIFIED ORDINANCES REGARDING THE PERMIT FEE AND MINIMUM INSURANCE COVERAGE FOR ANY DANGEROUS AND/OR VICIOUS ANIMAL; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council and Administration to increase permit fees and minimum insurance coverage, to harbor any dangerous and/or vicious animals, in order to offset costs incurred by the City and to protect the public; and
WHEREAS, it is imperative to move forward with this legislation as soon as possible, to address concerns regarding dangerous and/or vicious animals, and all for the preservation of the public peace, property, health, safety and welfare.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That Chapter 505, Animals and Fowls, 505.14 - Dangerous and Vicious Animals, of the Codified Ordinances of Gahanna, Ohio, is hereby amended, said changes are outlined in EXHIBIT A, attached to this Ordinance and made a part herein.
Section 2. That existing Sections 505.14(3(C) and 505.14(3)(c) of the Codified Ordinances of Gahanna, Ohio; are hereby repealed.
Section 3. That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble hereinabove, this Ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
