TO AUTHORIZE THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC SERVICE TO AWARD AND THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITH THE FISHEL COMPANY, FOR THE CLAYCRAFT FIBER NETWORK EXPANSION; IMPROVEMENT NO. ST1059.

WHEREAS, this project is to extend the City's fiber network in the Industrial Zone, which is vital to retaining businesses in the area; and
WHEREAS, this project is targeted at improving redundancy of our existing fiber network and improving accessibility of GNet and fiber to the industrial area of the City; and
WHEREAS, approximately 4,200 linear feet of fiber optic cable and conduit will be installed on Claycraft Road between Morrison Road and Taylor Station Road; and
WHEREAS, bids were opened on November 20, 2018 and the Director of Public Service and Engineering, has recommended we proceed with the lowest most responsive and responsible bidder, The Fishel Company; and
WHEREAS, The Fishel Company was the only bidder at $175,922.88 and well under the Engineer’s estimate of $197,000; and
WHEREAS, the Director of Public Service and Engineering, respectfully requests a 10% contingency in order to cover any unforeseen construction costs, which would bring the total amount to $193,515.18.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Director of Public Service and Engineering, is hereby authorized to award and the Mayor is authorized to enter into Contract with The Fishel Company, 1600 Walcutt, Columbus, Ohio 43228, for the Claycraft Fiber Network Expansion; Improvement No. ST1059; bid tabs attached as EXHIBIT A, and made a part herein.
Section 2. That funding in the amount of ONE HUNDRED NINETY THREE THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED FIFTEEEN HUNDRED DOLLARS AND EIGHTEEN CENTS ($193,515.18), was set aside in the 2019 Appropriations to Account No. 325.122.5596, Capital Improvements, Capital Projects/Improvements, to cover the herein cost.
Section 3. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect after passage by this Council and 30 days after date of signature approval by the Mayor.
