TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITH SEAN H. MAXFIELD TO SERVE AS MAGISTRATE FOR THE CITY OF GAHANNA MAYOR'S COURT FOR 2019; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, the Ohio Revised Code Section 1905.05 provides for the appointment by the Mayor of a Magistrate to preside over Mayor's Court; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor of Gahanna hereby appoints Sean H. Maxfield as Magistrate on behalf of the City of Gahanna, to perform magistrate services for the City of Gahanna Mayor’s Court.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, COUNTY OF FRANKLIN, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into contract with Sean Maxfield, 825 S. Front Street, Columbus, OH 43206, to serve as Magistrate of the City of Gahanna Mayor's Court, said Contract attached hereto as EXHIBIT A, and made a part herein.
Section 2. That the Contract is effective January 1, 2019 for a two year period.
Section 3. That the rate of pay per court session be established at FIVE HUNDRED ($500) per session.
Section 4. That funding in the amount of FIFTY TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS ($52,000) will be set aside in the 2019 Appropriations to Account No. 101.151.5242, Contract Magistrate.
Section 5. That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble hereinabove, this Ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
