Title

TO AMEND SECTIONS IN CHAPTER 139, POLICE DEPARTMENT, OF THE CODIFIED ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA.

Body

WHEREAS, the Division of Police and Human Resources Department are respectfully requesting authorization from Council to amend Section 139 - Police Department of the Gahanna Codified Ordinances to reflect language contained within the Ohio Revised Code as it pertains to age requirements for peace officers; and

WHEREAS, adoption of the changes will enable the Division of Police and Human Resources Department to establish set age requirements as contained within the Ohio Revised Code to applicants seeking employment with the City as Police Officers; and

WHEREAS, other sections have been updated to reflect current process.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:

Section 1.  That Chapter 139, Police Department, is hereby amended as set forth in EXHIBIT A, attached hereto and made a part herein.

Section 2.  That existing Section 139, Police Department, or any ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith, are hereby repealed.

Section 3.  That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect after passage by this Council and 30 days after date of signature approval by the Mayor.
