TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY TO SUBMIT A FORMAL GRANT APPLICATION FOR THE 2018 MID-OHIO REGIONAL PLANNING COMMISSION (MORPC) SURFACE TRANSPORTATION PROGRAM (STIP) FOR BIG WALNUT TRAIL SECTION 8 AND WEST SIDE INTERSECTION; AND TO AUTHORIZE THE FINANCE DIRECTOR TO ESTABLISH A SPECIAL FUND FOR THE GRANTS, IF AWARDED.

WHEREAS, in an effort to secure funding for Capital Improvements we are requesting permission to apply for and accept Grant Funds through the MORPC Surface Transportation Program; and
WHEREAS, we are preparing to submit an application to try to secure grant funds in an effort to offset the estimated costs to construct the Big Walnut Trail Section 8 and improve the Westside Intersection; and
WHEREAS, these projects are directly tied with GoForward Gahanna Strategic Result 2.3 West Side Intersection Completed and Strategic Result 3.1 Trail System Completed, of our Strategic Plan.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, COUNTY OF FRANKLIN, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the City is hereby authorized to submit a formal grant application for the 2018 Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission (MORPC) Surface Transportation Program (STIP) for Big Walnut Trail Section 8 and West Side Intersection.
Section 2. That, if awarded, the Finance Director is hereby authorized to establish a special fund for the grants.
Section 3. That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect at the earliest period allowed by law.
