TO AMEND CHAPTER 1301, BUILDING CODE, OF THE CODIFIED ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA.

WHEREAS, the amendment in Chapter 1307.03, Powers, Duties and Qualifications of Chief Building Official, removed “Zoning Regulation” from the duties of the Chief Building Official; and
WHEREAS, the amendment in Chapter 1311.01, Definitions, better clarified the definition of “Remodeling work”, and added a definition of a “General Contractor”; and
WHEREAS, the amendment in Chapter 1311.02, Contractor Registration Required, add requirement for General Contractors to register with the City; and
WHEREAS, the amendment in Chapter 1311.03, Application Fee and Insurability, better clarified the paragraph regarding fees; and
WHEREAS, the amendment in Chapter 1311.04, Qualifications of Applicants, adds applicant’s Ohio license(s) as a factor to be considered in the qualification process; and
WHEREAS, the amendment in Chapter 1311.05, Registration Renewal, removes the bonding requirement for contractor registration; and
WHEREAS, amendments throughout the Chapter include changes the Building and Zoning Fee Schedule code section reference from “148.12” to “135.10”, and changes the name of the fee schedule from “Development Fee Schedule” to “Building and Zoning Fee Schedule”.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, COUNTY OF FRANKLIN, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That Chapter 1301, Building Code, of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Gahanna is hereby amended as set forth in EXHIBIT A, attached hereto.
Section 2. That existing Chapter 1301, Building Code, or any Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in conflict herewith, are hereby repealed.
Section 3. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect after passage by this Council and 30 days after date of signature approval by the Mayor.
