TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITH THE GAHANNA-JEFFERSON SCHOOL DISTRICT FOR THE PROVISION OF SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICERS TO THE GAHANNA-JEFFERSON SCHOOL DISTRICT FOR THE 2017-2018 SCHOOL YEAR.

 

Body

 

WHEREAS, School Resource Officers have routinely been assigned to Gahanna Lincoln High School for the school year and the program has been very successful; and

 

WHEREAS, the agreement will allow for two (2) law enforcement officers to be assigned to the Gahanna Lincoln High School as School Resource Officers (SRO’s); and

 

WHEREAS, the cost for the School Resource Officers is split between the School District and the City; and

 

WHEREAS, any overtime ordered by the school shall be the responsibility of the school to pay and any overtime ordered by the City will be the City’s responsibility; and


WHEREAS, the current agreement expires June 30, 2017 and both the City and School District wish to continue the collaboration.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, COUNTY OF FRANKLIN, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into agreement with the Gahanna-Jefferson School District, 160 South Hamilton Road, Gahanna, Ohio 43230, to continue School Resource Officers at Gahanna Lincoln High School for the 2017-2018 school year; said Contract attached hereto as EXHIBIT A, and made a part herein.

 

Section 2. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect after passage by this Council and 30 days after date of signature approval by the Mayor.
