TO RECOGNIZE JOANN BURY FOR THE CERTIFICATE OF ACHIEVEMENT FOR EXCELLENCE IN FINANCIAL REPORTING FOR THE FISCAL YEAR ENDING DECEMBER 31, 2015 BY THE GOVERNMENT FINANCE OFFICERS ASSOCIATION.
BODY
WHEREAS, the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting has been awarded to the City of Gahanna by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR) for the fiscal year ending December 31, 2015; and
WHEREAS, the Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management; and
WHEREAS, an Award of Financial Reporting Achievement has been awarded to Joann Bury as primarily responsible for preparing the award-winning CAFR; and
WHEREAS, reports submitted to the CAFR program are reviewed by selected members of the GFOA professional staff and the GFOA Special Review Committee (SRC), which comprises individuals with expertise in public sector financial reporting and includes financial statement preparers, independent auditors, academics, and other finance professionals; and
WHEREAS, Joann Bury holds a B.A. in Accounting from Youngstown State University and has been serving as the Deputy Director of Finance with the City of Gahanna since 2012 and was promoted to Finance Director on January 1, 2016.
noW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of GAHANNA, CountY of FRANKLIN, State of Ohio:
Section 1. That this Council hereby recognizes Joann Bury for the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting.
Section 2. That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect immediately after passage by this Council.
