TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO MAKE APPLICATION FOR GRANT FUNDS FOR THE USDA FOREST SERVICE’S COMMUNITY FOREST PROGRAM (CFP) GRANT; AND IF AWARDED, TO AUTHORIZE THE DIRECTOR OF FINANCE TO ESTABLISH A SPECIAL FUND FOR THE GRANT.

WHEREAS, the Parks & Recreation Department is requesting authorization to apply for grant funds for the purchase of trees for the McCutcheon Road park property; and
WHEREAS, trees would be planted along the northern and eastern edges of property providing visual screening for home owners that border park property; and
WHEREAS, the requested grant will match funds dollar for dollar.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, COUNTY OF FRANKLIN, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized and directed to sign and submit the USDA Forest Service’s Community Forest Program (CFP) Grant for the purchase of trees for the McCutcheon Road park property.
Section 2. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to execute all documents required by law, policies and agreements in making such application and, if the City is selected as a grant recipient, accepting the grant funds.
Section 3. That if awarded the grant, the Director of Finance is hereby authorized to establish a special fund for the grant.
Section 4. That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect after passage by this Council and after approval by the Mayor.
