A RESOLUTION TO EXPRESS SUPPORT FOR ENERGY EFFICIENCY.

WHEREAS, the City of Gahanna recognizes the need for energy efficiency and an abundant supply of safe, reliable and affordable sources of energy for our growing region; and
WHEREAS, the City of Gahanna is leading by example through initiatives to increase energy efficiency of municipal operations; and
WHEREAS, the City of Gahanna also acknowledges the need to assist income-eligible households in their pursuit of increasing the safety and comfort of homes while lowering energy costs; and
WHEREAS, the City of Gahanna is willing to work with the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission to help income-eligible households participate in energy efficiency programs that provide weatherization services, heating improvements and education on energy usage to residents; and
WHEREAS, the City of Gahanna recognizes the increased need for home weatherization and safety checks as we enter into the coldest months of the year; and
WHEREAS, the City of Gahanna recognizes the importance of the benefits associated with energy efficiency policies, funding and programs.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, COUNTY OF FRANKLIN, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That this Council hereby declares support of energy efficiency as a method for controlling energy costs and increasing the safety and comfort of homes and buildings, and urges all residents of City of Gahanna to make an effort to increase their households’ energy efficiency.
Section 2. That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council.
