TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITH THE CITY OF COLUMBUS FOR SNOW AND ICE REMOVAL FOR THE 2016-2017 WINTER SEASON; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.
BODY
WHEREAS, in the past the City of Gahanna has plowed approximately 9.71 lane miles of City of Columbus streets each year; and
WHEREAS, the City of Columbus pays the City of Gahanna a contracted rate for each lane mile at a current rate of $760 per lane mile for a total of $7,379.60 each year for such services; and
WHEREAS, the City of Columbus is requesting a signed contract for the above mentioned services; and
WHEREAS, it is imperative to proceed as soon as possible to have legislation passed before the commencement date of October 15, 2016, on the contract, and all for the preservation of the public peace, property, health, safety and welfare.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, COUNTY OF FRANKLIN, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into contract with The City of Columbus for snow and ice removal services for the 2016-2017 winter season, said Contract attached hereto as EXHIBIT A, and made a part herein.
Section 2. That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble hereinabove, this Ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
