TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AGREEMENT WITH THE OHIO ASSOCIATION OF CHIEFS OF POLICE, INC. (OACP), FOR SERVICES ALIGNING WITH THE SCREENING PROCESS FOR THE DEPUTY CHIEF OF POLICE VACANCY; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

 

BODY

 

WHEREAS, the City would like to utilize the services of the Ohio Association of Chiefs of Police, Inc. (OACP) for the screening process for the Deputy Chief of Police vacancy; and

 

WHEREAS, used in conjunction with a written examination from another provider, the assessment center will give additional insight into the candidates’ ability to perform in several key areas; and

 

WHEREAS, it is imperative to proceed as soon as possible in order to fill the Deputy Chief of Police vacant position, and all for the preservation of the public peace, property, health, safety and welfare.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, COUNTY OF FRANKLIN, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into an agreement with the OHIO ASSOCIATION OF CHIEFS OF POLICE, INC. (OACP), 6277 Riverside Drive, Dublin, Ohio, 43017, for the purposes of a screening process for the Deputy Chief of Police vacancy; said Agreement attached hereto as EXHIBIT A, and made a part herein.

 

Section 2. That funding is available and has been set aside in the 2016 Budget Appropriations to cover the herein costs.

 

Section 3. That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble hereinabove, this Ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
