TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY OF GAHANNA TO FORMALLY SUBMIT A GRANT APPLICATION FOR THE MID-OHIO REGIONAL PLANNING COMMISSION (MORPC) SURFACE TRANSPORTATION PROGRAM TO SECURE GRANT FUNDS FOR CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS.

WHEREAS, the City Engineer is requesting authorization to apply for the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission (MORPC) Surface Transportation Program to secure grant funds for capital improvement projects; and

 

WHEREAS, the City Engineer is preparing to submit an application to offset the estimated costs to improve the US-62/Stygler, and Styler/Agler intersections to help increase capacity of these sections of roadway, alleviate congestion, reduce crashes, improve pedestrian connectivity, and encourage economic development in the area; and

 

WHEREAS, these projects are directly tied to our strategic result 2.3 West Side Intersection Completed, of the City’s Strategic Plan.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, COUNTY OF FRANKLIN, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1. That the City of Gahanna is hereby authorized to formally submit a grant application for the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission (MORPC), Surface Transportation Program (STIP) to secure grant funds for capital improvements. 

 

Section 2. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to execute all documents required by law, policies and agreements in making such application and, if the City is selected as a grant recipient, accepting the grant funds.

 

Section 3. That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect after passage by this Council and after approval by the Mayor.
