TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY OF GAHANNA TO FORMALLY SUBMIT A GRANT APPLICATION FOR THE 2016 ROUND 31 OPWC APPLICATION TO SECURE GRANT FUNDS FOR CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS.

WHEREAS, the City Engineer is requesting authorization to apply for the 2016 Round 31 OPWC application to secure grant funds for capital improvement projects; and

 

WHEREAS, eligible projects include improvements to roads, bridges, culverts, water supply systems, wastewater systems, stormwater collections systems, and solid waste disposal facilities; and

 

WHEREAS, the City Engineer is preparing to submit an application for both the South Stygler Road and West Johnstown Road Widening Projects in order to secure grant funds to help increase capacity of these sections of roadway, alleviate congestion, improve pedestrian connectivity and encourage economic development in the area; and

 

WHEREAS, these projects are directly tied to our strategic result 2.3 West Side Intersection Completed, of the City’s Strategic Plan.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, COUNTY OF FRANKLIN, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1. That the City of Gahanna is hereby authorized to formally submit a grant application for the 2016 Round 31 OPWC Application to secure grant funds for capital improvements. 

 

Section 2. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to execute all documents required by law, policies and agreements in making such application and, if the City is selected as a grant recipient, accepting the grant funds.

 

Section 3. That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect after passage by this Council and after approval by the Mayor.
