TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITH ENVIRONMENTAL REMEDIATION CONTRACTOR FOR THE ACADEMY COURT CULVERT BANK STABILIZATION ST-1024.

 

BODY

 

WHEREAS, the bid opening for Academy Court Culvert took place on Friday, June 24, 2016; and

 

WHEREAS, a significant amount of debris and sediment collect at the bridge that carries Academy Court over McKenna Creek which reduces its capability to convey stormwater resulting in water overtopping the roadway during frequent rainfall events; and

 

WHEREAS, this project will reduce the potential for debris to collect at the bridge and reduce the frequency of flooding events at this bridge; and

 

WHEREAS, Environmental Remediation Contractor was the lowest responsive and responsible bidder at $98,890 and came in under the engineer’s estimate of $99,949; and

WHEREAS, a 10% contingency is requested in order to cover any unforeseen construction costs which would bring the total amount to $108,779; and

 

WHEREAS, funds for this project were included in the 2016 appropriations and prior year funds.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, COUNTY OF FRANKLIN, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into contract with ENVIRONMENTAL REMEDIATION CONTRACTOR, 532 West Rich Street, Columbus, Ohio, 43215, for the Academy Court Culvert Bank Stabilization ST-1024; said Contract attached as EXHIBIT A, and made a part herein.

 

Section 2. That funding in the amount of ONE HUNDRED AND EIGHT THOUSAND SEVEN HUNDRED AND SEVENTY NINE THOUSAND ($108,779) was set aside in 2016 appropriations in Account No. 631.350.5596, Stormwater Capital Fund, to cover the herein costs.

 

Section 3. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and 30 days after date of signature approval by the Mayor.
