TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITH COLUMBUS ASPHALT PAVING FOR THE ASHMEAD DRIVE STREET INFILTRATION PROJECT.

WHEREAS, the bid opening for the Ashmead Drive Street Infiltration Project took place on Friday, June 10, 2016; and

 

WHEREAS, this project will implement pervious pavement and underground storage of stormwater to help to further reduce the peak rate of stormwater run-off, improve water quality, and reduce erosion in Souder Ditch; and

 

WHEREAS, Columbus Asphalt Paving was the lowest responsive and responsible bidder at $254,133; and

 

WHEREAS, the City Engineer is requesting a 10% contingency in order to cover any unforeseen construction costs which would bring the total amount to $279,546; and

 

WHEREAS, funds for this project were previously encumbered from 2015 appropriations.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, COUNTY OF FRANKLIN, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into contract with COLUMBUS ASPHALT PAVING, 1196 Technology Drive, Gahanna, Ohio 43230, for the Ashmead Drive Street Infiltration Project; said Contract attached as EXHIBIT A, and made a part herein.

 

Section 2. That funding in the amount of TWO HUNDRED AND SEVENTY NINE THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED AND FORTY SIX DOLLARS ($279,546) was set aside in 2015 appropriations in Account No. 641.351.5596, OEPA Federal Grant Capital Projects, to cover the herein costs.

 

Section 3. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and 30 days after date of signature approval by the Mayor.
