A RESOLUTION TO EXPRESS SUPPORT TO COLUMBUS RECREATION AND PARKS FOR ACQUISITION OF OPEN SPACE THROUGH THE CLEAN OHIO CONSERVATION FUND FOR THE PURCHASE OF .72 ACRES OF PROPERTY WITHIN THE CITY OF GAHANNA CORPORATE LIMITS.
BODY
WHEREAS, the State of Ohio, through the Ohio Public Works Commission, administers financial assistance for the acquisition of open spaces, through the Clean Ohio Conservation Fund; and
WHEREAS, the City of Columbus Recreation and Parks is an applicant for funding through District 3 Clean Ohio Conservation Funds for the purchase of 0.72 acres of property within the City of Gahanna corporate limits, adjacent to Big Walnut Creek; and
WHEREAS, the grant administrators, Ohio Public Works Commission, have requested a resolution to ensure support of the acquisition; and
WHEREAS, the City of Gahanna recognizes the opportunity to preserve riparian corridor along Big Walnut Creek for water quality and protected open space; and
WHEREAS, the City of Gahanna is collaborating with Columbus Recreation and Parks on the mutual protection and preservation of Big Walnut Creek for future greenway connectivity; and
WHEREAS, this property will have a conservation easement placed upon it which will allow for nature trails, multipurpose paved trails and creek access for paddlers; and
WHEREAS, the Director of Parks and Recreation is recommending support of this acquisition.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, COUNTY OF FRANKLIN, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That this Council hereby supports the Columbus Recreation and Parks acquisition of open space through the Clean Ohio Conservation Fund for the purchase of 0.72 acres of property within the City of Gahanna corporate limits
Section 2. That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council.
