TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO SIGN A PARTICIPATORY AGREEMENT WITH THE OHIO DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION (ODOT) FOR RESURFACING IMPROVEMENTS TO US-62; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.
BODY
WHEREAS, the route on US-62 is currently displaying deteriorations including raveling, rutting and cracking and resurfacing and repairs are needed on this route to ensure pavement integrity and to provide the traveling public with safe driving surfaces; and
WHEREAS, the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) intends to resurface US-62 from 670 to just north of Morse Road; and
WHEREAS, ODOT Urban Paving Program will provide 80% of the cost to complete the 5.23 miles of resurfacing in which the City’s contribution will be 20% of the project cost which is currently estimated at $230,988; and
WHEREAS, the project is to start late this summer; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary to move forward as soon as possible to meet the deadline required by ODOT, and all for the preservation of the peace, property, health, safety and welfare.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, COUNTY OF FRANKLIN, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to sign the participatory agreement with the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT), Office of Estimating # 4160, 1980 West Broad Street, First Floor, Columbus, Ohio, 43223, said agreement attached hereto as EXHIBIT A, and made a part herein.
Section 2. That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble hereinabove, this Ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
