TO AUTHORIZE THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC SERVICE TO PURCHASE A UTILITY CAMERA AND ASSOCIATED SOFTWARE FROM STATE CONTRACT NO. 800323-STS670.

WHEREAS, the Sewer, Storm, and Water Divisions are in need of replacing our existing eleven (11) year old utility camera; and

 

WHEREAS, a utility camera is critical to providing information on the condition of the utility, back-up investigation, and inspection of our new infrastructure prior to acceptance; and

 

WHEREAS, a replacement for the unit was found through State Contract which means that the formal bid requirement has been met; and


WHEREAS, our current camera software runs on Windows XP and is not compatible with newer versions of Windows and also does not allow video but only screenshots and the fees associated are roughly $1,100 per year; and

 

WHEREAS, the new software will allow full length video recordings in multiple file formats, runs on current Windows software and has a lower fee cost of $500 per year; and

 

WHEREAS, the Director of Public Service is requesting authorization to purchase this camera and associated software.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, COUNTY OF FRANKLIN, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1. That the Director of Public Service is hereby authorized to purchase a utility camera and associated software from Drier and Maller, Inc., 6508 Taylor Road SW, Reynoldsburg, Ohio 43068.

 

Section 2. That funding in the amount of SIXTY SIX THOUSAND TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS ($66,200) was set aside in 2016 appropriations to cover the herein costs

 

Section 3.  That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect after passage by this Council and 30 days after signature of approval by the Mayor.
