TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITH SHELLY AND SANDS CONSTRUCTION FOR THE CARPENTER ROAD BRIDGE REPLACEMENT ST 993.

WHEREAS, the bid opening for the Carpenter Road Bridge Replacement project took place on Friday, April 15, 2016; and
WHEREAS, this project will remove and replace the deficient structure that carries Carpenter Road over Sycamore Run; and
WHEREAS, Shelly and Sands Construction Company was the lowest responsive and responsible bidder at $451,990 which was within 10% of the engineer’s estimate; and
WHEREAS, a 10% contingency is requested to cover any unforeseen construction costs which would bring the total amount to $497,950; and
WHEREAS, funds for this project were previously encumbered from multiple accounts; and
WHEREAS, the City Engineer is requesting the City enter into contract with Shelly and Sands Construction Company for the Carpenter Road Bridge Replacement, ST 933.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, COUNTY OF FRANKLIN, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into contract with SHELLY AND SANDS CONSTRUCTION COMPANY, 1515 Harmon Avenue, Columbus, Ohio 43223, for the Carpenter Road Bridge Replacement ST 993; said contract attached hereto as EXHIBIT A and made a part herein.
Section 2. That funding in the amount of FOUR HUNDRED NINETY SEVEN THOUSAND NINE HUNDRED AND FIFTY DOLLARS ($497,950) was set aside in the 2016 Appropriations to Account No. 325.122.5596, Capital Improvement Fund, and 652.351.5596, Water Capital Project Improvement Fund, to cover the herein costs.
Section 3. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect after passage by this Council and 30 days after date of signature approval by the Mayor.
