TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO SIGN A MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT WITH MID-OHIO REGIONAL PLANNING COMMISSION (MORPC) IN ORDER TO PARTICIPATE IN THEIR LOCAL GOVERNMENT INTERNSHIP PROGRAM.

WHEREAS, the agreement will allow the City to partner with MORPC to recruit qualified interns interested in pursuing a career in government; and
WHEREAS, three departments have identified a need for internship work for the summer of 2016, Parks & Recreation, Information Technology and Public Service & Engineering; and
WHEREAS, the City is responsible for a $600 fee per student sourced and for the cost of the intern’s wages.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, COUNTY OF FRANKLIN, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to sign a Memorandum of Agreement with Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission (MORPC) in order to participate in their local government internship program; said Memorandum of Agreement attached hereto as EXHIBIT A, and made a part herein.
Section 2. That funding will be available in the 2016 appropriate accounts to cover the herein costs.
Section 3. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect immediately after passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
