TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AGREEMENT WITH INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF CHIEFS OF POLICE TO PROVIDE BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION SERVICES FOR THE POSITION OF THE DEPUTY CHIEF OF POLICE; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, this agreement will assist in providing background investigation services to the City of Gahanna for the position of the Deputy Chief of Police; and

 

WHEREAS, the organization will complete brief background investigation summaries for candidates certified to the Review Board and a comprehensive background investigation for the final candidate selected by the Safety Director for the position; and

 

WHEREAS, due to the time sensitivity in filling this critical position, it is imperative that we move forward with this agreement, and all for the preservation of the public peace, property, health, safety and welfare.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, COUNTY OF FRANKLIN, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into agreement with International Association of Chiefs of Police, Incorporated, 44 Canal Center Plaza, Suite 200, Alexandria, Virginia 22314, for background investigation services for the position of the Deputy Chief of Police, said agreement attached as EXHIBIT A, and made a part herein.

 

Section 2.  That for the reasons set forth in the preamble hereinabove, this Ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect immediately after passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
