TO HONOR AND COMMEND DEPUTY CHIEF OF POLICE KENNETH BELL FOR FORTY-TWO YEARS OF LAW ENFORCEMENT SERVICE

WHEREAS, over the last forty-two years, Kenneth Bell "Ken" has served the law enforcement profession with honor and distinction including 16 years of exceptional service to the City of Gahanna; and
WHEREAS, Ken began his law enforcement career in 1973, becoming a member of the Ohio State Highway Patrol's 98th Class, graduating from the Academy on November 15, 1973 and,
WHEREAS, Ken embarked on a 25 year career with the Ohio State Highway Patrol, serving in various assignments and posts throughout the State of Ohio rising to the rank of Sergeant; and
WHEREAS, in 1994, while assigned as a training sergeant at the Ohio State Highway Patrol's Academy, Ken first became acquainted with members of the Gahanna Division of Police, overseeing basic recruit training, including that of Chief Dennis Murphy; and
WHEREAS, Ken retired as a Sergeant from the Ohio State Highway Patrol in 1998 and continued his law enforcement career, joining the ranks of the Gahanna Division of Police on June 1, 1999 as a part-time officer; and
WHEREAS, Ken served as a part-time officer contributing his knowledge and experience to many facets of the Division's operations including the training and development of its sworn staff; and
WHEREAS, in September, 2007, Ken was promoted to Deputy Chief of Police where he has overseen the transformation of the Division in terms of its operations and positioned the agency, and its members, to address the ever-changing environment that faces the law enforcement profession today and well into the future; and
WHEREAS, Ken has served the City of Gahanna and the law enforcement profession with exceptional honor, integrity and professionalism for the past 16 years; and
WHEREAS, Deputy Chief Ken Bell will be deeply missed personally and professionally by the City of Gahanna's staff and citizens;
