TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO A MAINTENANCE AGREEMENT IN CONNECTION WITH THE CITY OF COLUMBUS TRAFFIC SIGNAL SYSTEM AND THE GAHANNA CONDUIT SYSTEM; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, the City of Columbus desires to occupy conduit in the right-of-way in Gahanna; and

 

WHEREAS, Gahanna will have excess conduit in the right-of-way in Gahanna; and

 

WHEREAS, the use of conduit that is being constructed is part of the multi-jurisdictional broadband expansion funded by the State Fiber Grant; and

 

WHEREAS, the City of Columbus and the City of Gahanna have worked together regarding traffic signals and fiber optics and Gahanna and Columbus will gain the ability to expand their networks beyond their current infrastructure; and

 

WHEREAS, this Maintenance Agreement will benefit multiple entities and the connection is a critical section for expanding the Regional Fiber Network and it is imperative to move forward quickly with this legislation all for the preservation of the public peace, property, health, safety and welfare.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, COUNTY OF FRANKLIN, STATE OF OHIO:

 

Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into contract with The City of Columbus, Department of Public Service, Office of Support Services, 50 W. Gay Street, Suite 520, Columbus, Ohio 43215, said contract attached hereto as EXHIBIT A.

 

Section 2. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
