TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO MAKE APPLICATION FOR GRANT FUNDS THROUGH THE PRE-DISASTER MITIGATION (PDM) GRANT PROGRAM FOR THE CLAYCRAFT ROAD BOOSTER STATION.

WHEREAS, the City Engineer is requesting authorization to apply for Pre-Disaster Mitigation (PDM) Grant funds for the Claycraft Road Booster Station; and
WHEREAS, currently if there is a loss of commercial power, the pumps at the site that feed the local distribution system and fill the water tower would not operate; and
WHEREAS, the City experiences numerous interruptions of commercial power which makes it essential to provide a backup power source at the location; and
WHEREAS, the project will ensure that the City’s distribution system can meet the usage needs during adverse conditions without manual intervention; and
WHEREAS, funds were set aside in 2015 appropriations for this project, and this grant is to help offset the project costs, said application deadline being July 24, 2015; and
WHEREAS, it is imperative to move forward with this legislation all for the preservation of the public peace, property, health, safety and welfare;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, COUNTY OF FRANKLIN, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized and directed to sign and submit the Pre-Disaster Mitigation (PDM) grant application for the Claycraft Road Booster Station.
Section 2. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to execute all documents required by the PDM law, policies and agreements in making such application and, if the City is selected as a grant recipient, accepting the grant funds.
Section 3. That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect after passage by this Council and after approval by the Mayor.
