TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO EXERCISE THE OPTION TO PURCHASE GAHANNA WOODS-FOXWOOD RESERVE E AND TO SUPPLEMENTALLY APPROPRIATE $216,000 THEREFOR.
BODY
WHEREAS, regarding Section 3 of the Foxwood subdivision, the developer and the City of Gahanna have reached an agreement on how best to protect the Buttonbush swamp contiguous to the aforementioned section; and
WHEREAS, the City has agreed to purchase a 0.794 acre portion of the previously platted Section 3 located at the end of Kason's Way off of Taylor Road; and
WHEREAS, this purchase includes the charitable donation of 1.16 acres of land commonly known as Reserve D, a re-plat of a portion of Foxwood Section 3; and
WHEREAS, acquisition of this property ensures resolute control of storm water run-off quality and quantity from the new subdivision into the high quality category 3 wetland vernal pool located in the Gahanna Woods State Nature Preserve; and
WHEREAS, the City is making application for Clean Ohio Conservation funding authorized by RES-0002-2015 to cover a portion of the herein costs;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, COUNTY OF FRANKLIN, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into a contract with Homewood Corporation, 2700 East Dublin-Granville Road, Columbus, Ohio 43231, which is necessary to exercise the option to purchase 0.794 acres commonly known as Reserve E of Gahanna Woods-Foxwood; purchase contract attached as EXHIBIT A and made a part herein.
Section 2. That funding in the amount of TWO HUNDRED SIXTEEN THOUSAND DOLLARS ($216,000) is hereby supplementally appropriated from the unencumbered, unappropriated balance of the Capital Improvement Fund to Account No. 325.155.5596, Parks Capital Fund, to cover the herein costs.
Section 3. That ORD-0163-2014, passed December 15, 2014 is hereby amended to reflect this supplemental appropriation.
