WHEREAS, the Police Duty Weapon Fund was established to provide firearms to Officers who wish to purchase their own in lieu of accepting general issue handguns; and
 
WHEREAS, the weapons are purchased by the City out of the Police Duty Weapon Fund with participating Officers establishing a payroll deduction to repay the City over 26 pay periods;
 
WHEREAS, as a part of the Finance Department's ongoing efforts to close outdated purchase orders, a prior year purchase order for police duty weapons was closed in error due to items being on back order and the City was invoiced in 2015; and
 
WHEREAS, in order to rectify this, a supplemental appropriation is necessary;
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, COUNTY OF FRANKLIN, STATE OF OHIO:
 
Section 1. That funding in the amount of FIVE THOUSAND EIGHT HUNDRED SIXTY DOLLARS ($5,860) is hereby supplementally appropriated from the unencumbered, unappropriated balance of the Police Duty Weapon Fund to Account No. 515.211.5437, Police, Weapon Purchases.
 
Section 2. That payment of the above then and now purchase is hereby authorized under ORC 5705.41(D)(1) for police duty weapons in the amount of $5,860 due from Account No. 515.211.5437, Police, Weapon Purchases. The Director of Finance has certified that funds were available then at the time of purchase and now at the time of payment, appropriated, collected or in the process of collection and free from any previous encumbrance.
 
Section 3. That ORD-0163-2014, passed December 15, 2014, is hereby amended to reflect this supplemental appropriation.
 
Section 4. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect after passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
