TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITH MICHAEL HOFFMAN, AUCTIONEER, FOR PROFESSIONAL SERVICES FOR THE CITY'S ANNUAL AUCTION; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, the Department of Finance has recommended that we enter into a contract with Michael Hoffman, Auctioneer, to conduct the City's auction of surplus equipment; and
WHEREAS, the use of a professional auctioneer will better meet the City's reporting needs for auditing purposes; and
WHEREAS, this year's auction is scheduled to be held October 4 which necessitates passage of this ordinance in a timely fashion for promotion of this event, all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety, and welfare;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA:
Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into contract with MICHAEL HOFFMAN, Auctioneer, 7444 Grand Haven Court, Pickerington, Ohio 43147, for professional auctioneering services in accordance with contract attached to this ordinance as EXHIBIT A.
Section 2. That for the reasons set forth in the preamble herein above this ordinance is declared emergency legislation and shall be in full force and effect after passage by this Council and on date of signature approval by the Mayor.
