TO AUTHORIZE THE ACTING DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC SERVICE TO AWARD AND THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT FOR NEW COMPUTERS FROM UNIFIED COMPUTER SERVICES; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY

WHEREAS, the Acting Director of Public Service and the Network Administrator advertised for bids, pursuant to Council authorization, and the best, responsible, and responsive bidder has been recommended by the Network Administrator; and
WHEREAS, it is desirable to proceed with this purchase at the earliest possible date in order to replace rapidly aging equipment for the orderly conduct of technology in the Police Department, the Mayor's office, and the Service Department, all for the preservation of the public peace, health, safety, and welfare;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GAHANNA, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That the Acting Director of Public Service is authorized to award and the Mayor authorized to enter into contract for new computers from UNIFIED COMPUTER SERVICES, 1344 Knollwood Drive East, Columbus, Ohio 43232, for the amount of Twelve Thousand Six Hundred Ninety Dollars ($12,690) .
Section 2. That funding was set aside in the 1998 Appropriations to Account No. 101.121.5511, Mayor's Office, Capital Projects, $4,000; to Account No. 101.140.5511, Service, Capital Projects, $4,000; and to Account No. 101.121.5512, Police, Capital Projects, $9,000, to cover the herein costs.
Section 3. That, for the reasons set forth in the preamble hereinabove, this ordinance is declared emergency legislation, and shall be in full force and effect immediately upon passage by this Council and approval by the Mayor.
